Microsoft Windows VistaBSI would like to clarify its position regarding the use of Microsoft Windows Vista and make it clear that:We do not currently recommend that customers attempt to run our software on Microsoft Windows Vista, nor can we support customers that attempt to do so at this time. Microsoft Vista no longer allows access to a number of key multimedia components previously used by BSI and the majority of professional automation software vendors that use the Microsoft MME Wave standard. This means that functionality provided in all previous versions of Windows (such as control of the audio mixer), is not available in Vista. Additionally, new security restrictions mean that installation and access to the Windows registry no longer operate in the same way as previous versions of Windows which again require extensive modification and testing. Hardware vendors too have had to develop new drivers (on which BSI software relies to communicate between Windows and the hardware), specifically for Windows Vista...some of which have only been made available recently. BSI Tech Support is currently carrying out an intensive certifying and testing process with Windows Vista Ultimate, together with our development team. As a genuine Microsoft partner BSI continuously performs certification testing with all of our current applications on all currently active and upcoming Professional Operating Systems which includes the new Vista Operating System. As it is our wish to supply our customers will trouble free integration we will not certify our products for use with Vista until comprehensive and complete testing is performed.
Continued Availability Of Windows XPWindows XP Pro SP2 has proven to be a very reliable and stable platform for BSI software and Microsoft has responded to customer demand for XP with the news that it will now keep selling its Windows XP operating system until at least June 2008.For more details, we maintain a list of the latest recommended operating systems, drivers and hardware in our forum: http://support.bsiusa.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1811 (You will need to sign up for a free account in order to access our User Forum).
WaveStation UsersWe regret that it is not possible to modify older products, such as the discontinued WaveStation software, to operate under Windows Vista. Although WaveStation was discontinued 6 years ago, we do offer a Wavestation to Simian Migration Path for existing users.Simian Customers Using Non-ASI Sound CardsOwing to the changes in Microsoft Vista, we will only be supporting Simian customers using an AudioScience sound card. As other programmes do not make use of the removed features in Windows Vista, this restriction is unlikely to apply to other current BSI software which is also currently being modified and tested. |
