Windows 7

BSI has released Simian 2.1, which is now certified by BSI to run on the Windows 7 32-bit Professional or Ultimate OS's. This does not include Windows 7 64-bit OS. We will also not be supporting the Basic or Home Editions of Windows 7 as they are not intended for professional environment. A notice will be placed on our website when the Windows 64-bit OS is supported.

Hardware vendors too have had to develop new drivers for the for the Windows 7 64-bit OS. (on which BSI software relies to communicate between Windows and the hardware). Any issues with these drivers must be worked out before we can recommend running our software on a 64-bit OS.

Windows Vista

We do not currently recommend that customers attempt to run our software on Microsoft Windows Vista. Although we have been successful with long term testing of Simian on Windows 7 32-bit, we have not been so fortunate with it's predessesor, Windows Vista. We cannot support customers that attempt to run on Windows Vista at this time due to it's reliability issues.

Continued Availability Of Windows XP

Windows XP Pro SP2 and SP3 has proven to be a very reliable and stable platform for BSI software and Microsoft has responded to customer demand for XP with the news that it will continue to make available opportunities for customers to purchase licenses for both Vista and Windows 7, but to 'downgrade' them to Windows XP. We still recommend this route for customers purchasing new machines.

Simian Customers Using Non-ASI Sound Cards

Owing to the changes in Microsoft Vista and Windows 7, we will only be supporting Simian customers using an AudioScience sound card. As other programs do not make use of the removed features, this particular restriction is unlikely to apply to other current BSI software which is also currently being modified and tested.
