Windows 7

BSI has released Simian 2.1, which is now certified by BSI to run on the Windows 7 32-bit Professional or Ultimate OS's. This does not include Windows 7 64-bit OS. We will also not be supporting the Basic or Home Editions of Windows 7 as they are not intended for professional environment. A notice will be placed on our website when the Windows 64-bit OS is supported.

Because BSI's current offerings are 32-bit applications, running them on 64-bit environments has proven unreliable in our long-term testing on some systems. Though some customers have chosen to run their BSI software on 64 bit operating systems, we do not recomend--nor support--running in this environment. This is because 32-bit applications run on a virtualized layer within the operating system and software to driver communucations are seperated by this extra virtualization layer, which in most cases has proven to be unreliable for running in a 24x7x365 level of operation. In other words, if it doesn't work for everybody, we won't recommend or support it.

Windows Vista

BSI would like to clarify its position regarding the use of Microsoft Windows Vista and make it clear that:

We do not recommend that customers attempt to run our software on Microsoft Windows Vista. Although we have been successful with long term testing of Simian on Windows 7 32-bit, we have not been so fortunate with it's predessesor, Windows Vista (even it's 32-bit variant). We cannot support customers that attempt to run on Windows Vista due to it's long term reliability issues.

Windows XP

Windows XP Pro SP2 and SP3 has proven to be a very reliable and stable platform for BSI software. If you still have a machine running XP, or have an existing license for XP on a new system, we still consider this a recomended operating system (along with Windows 7 32-bit Professional or Ultimate).

WaveStation Users

We regret that it is not possible to modify older products, such as the discontinued WaveStation software, to operate under Windows Vista or Windows 7. Although WaveStation was discontinued 10 years ago, we do offer a Wavestation to Simian Migration Path for existing users.
