MPEG Layer 2 is the broadcast standard for high-quality compressed audio and at rates of 256Kbps has been declared 'transparent'. The QDesign MPEG software optimizes the quality and performance of the standard to enable users to encode broadcast-quality sound without the need for compression hardware.

The QDesign Codec works with BSI Simian, SkimmerPlus, Speedy and WaveCart and should work with any program that full supports the Windows Audio Compression Manager (ACM).
